Electronic Arts acquiring Ubisoft, well maybe

Electronic Arts

The latest rumour to hit the web waves is that EA wants to acquire Ubisoft, and this after their unsuccessful bid to grab hold of Take Two. Those who follow the gaming industry may recall EA already owns a formidable stake of 20% of shares in Ubisoft, and raised it even further to 25% back in August 07.

EA rasing its stake in Ubisoft came shortly after Yves Guillernot, Ubisoft’s president announced the company was still considering an EA acquisition earlier. GameCyte reports that the same company who registered eatake2.com, a site which is used in an attempt to convince shareholders of the merits of EA taking over, also registered eaunisoft.com on the very same day. So this gives rise to the rumour, although one can’t confirm that Electronic Arts is actually behind the registration.
