Not really game news but its sure interesting…Ok so don’t even bother to try and take in all the scientific mumbo jumbo formulae, research, and theories behind idea of putting together sixteen PS3’s to simulate the collision of two quantum singularities. Partly headed by Guaray Khanna at UmassD this, project is, er…beyond my scientific knowledge to really explain.
Khanna calls the setup the “gravity grid” and to this end has installed Linux on the sixteen PS3’s to accurately compute the ‘ripples’ caused by gravitational waves from singularities. Yeah I know, clever mind boggling stuff, but isn’t it great to know that PS3’s are used outside the gaming arena? So if you fancy boggling your mind some follow the source and get educated in the scientific…
